SHORT DESCRIPTION OF MARTIN: He married my 3-times great-grandmother Ana in 1895 (in the above death record, Ana is incorrectly listed as Martin's mother), with whom he had only one son (my great-great-grandfather Ivan). After emigrating to the USA twice (in 1906 and 1912), he was drafted as a reservist into the 26th Infantry Regiment of the Imperial and Royal Army of Austria-Hungary in Esztergom, where he died heroically at the age of 43 due to pneumonia contracted during a military campaign outside the battlefield.

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF ANDRAŽ: He married my second great-grandmother Terezija in 1910, with whom he had four children, born in 1911, 1913, 1915 and 1917, the youngest child being my great-grandfather Peter, who, along with his sisters, never met his father. Andraž was drafted into the 48th Infantry Regiment of the Imperial and Royal Army of Austria-Hungary as early as 1915, which is confirmed by the entry of his injury in Verlustliste Nr. 346. According to available sources, Andraž was also injured in 1917, unfortunately fatally; he died at the age of 30 from the consequences of a mine injury he suffered on the battlefield of the Isonzo Front near Šempeter pri Gorici.
